Nissan OEM Options for the 1995 R33 GT-R, Part 2
So what about options for the interior of your R33? I’ve always enjoyed looking at Japanese car catalogs, as there are some crazy options out there… yes, those ubiquitous lace car seat covers, to other more interesting stuff…in any case, continuing from my last post here is a selection of stuff for the 1995 Skyline GT-R, taken out of the general R33 OEM options catalog.
On page 12, the one option I’ve actually seen (on Thomas Mangum's car) installed are the knee pads for 17,000 yen. I suppose you need these when cornering REALLY hard. Thankfully, most of the time I corner THAT hard, I’m strapped into the seat with a harness – heck but you never know, could be on the Wangan and need to do a 180 spin or something…
On this page, the other options available for the GT-R were the manual transmission shift knob for 14,300 yen, the oil filler cap, and the foot rest. Nothing else was offered for the GT-R.
Moving onto pages 17-18, you’ll be glad to know that while the fake wood grain (offered only on sedans this year) was NOT offered for the GT-R, the fake marble was! Yay! Actually I considered getting the aluminum side sills (used), but wasn’t convinced they would look good on my car. The Puratron air purifier… not sure what GT-R owner would want one, but I suppose if you are a heavy smoker…
I would kill for the “multi-box” but so I could offer drinks to my rear passengers but perhaps I first need to get either a meshed rear screen or have my windows tinted. Ah, never mind on that one. Actually I have seen only once – on a car offered by Newera – the Trunk Bag. Maybe I should have swiped it, but honestly it looked like it could not hold too much.
As for the other interior options – well I already have an infant seat by Takata, and my aftermarket stero/Navi is of course 2006 spec, not 1995 spec, so I have to say I’m not that interested…
Lastly, don’t forget the last page, which has of course the ubiquitous feather duster, but more exciting, the cigarette socket powered electric jack! Just in case I guess. (and I have no idea about Skyline shoes or wallets…)
Hopefully the 1996 and 1997 catalogs will contain some other cool things? Stay tuned for my final post on OEM options!

My GT-R came with an air purifier. There's a weird crackling sound when I turn it on. It also feels a bit eerie to feel a stream of air blowing from behind. Whether it really purified air or made it worse remains a mystery! I'm thinking of removing it to save weight.
Very informative, can't wait for the next parts.
Ah, rear side protectors do sound much better than rear spats lol.
Matt - uh yeah it's probably a good idea to ditch it, if you aren't a smoker. This option was definitely a hold-over from the 80s I think.
Kunal - I didn't have time tonight to do a proper write up but I DID scan in the 1996 and the relevant part of the 1997 catalogs - see the Pages to the side.

In line with the audio options.. Here is a closeup of the Kenwood optioned speakers. http://i48.tinypic.com/24qthc9.jpg
If I knew they were a factory option they never would have made the bin!
The 'Kenwood' lettering glowed a bluey-green when the parkers were turned on, which actually made them illegal in Australia.
Very cool Nick, thanks for the link! Wow that thing looks huge... I have to admit I always thought the light up effect was cool...LOL
